Nearly 10 years later, the researchers asked participants whether they had been diagnosed with depression mederita since 2000. And no fewer than 11,311 people were diagnosed with depression.
People who drink more than four cans of soda per day had a risk of 30% more likely to develop depression than those who do not drink soda. Those who drank four cans of fruit punch per day, the risk is about 38% more likely to develop depression than those who do not drink sugary drinks.
The researchers offer another option for those who want to consume sugary drinks or coffee substitute. People who drank four cups of coffee per day about 10% less likely to develop depression. The risk appears to be greater for people who drink soda.
